Why Should You Love The Father and The Son?

Why Should You Love The Father and The Son?

God loves you. He loves all of His creatures. While we remained sinners God loved us. Romans 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That's a big deal, the biggest deal! The Creator of the universe wants to love you and save you, even though you are a sinner! God is perfect and He is pure and He can not be in the presence of sin; but He had a plan to be with us, a continuing part of us, if we will join Him in His plan. He made a plan to use His very own and perfect son as the price for all the sin you and I have commited. Every sin by every human on earth and in history he has found a way to pay for, to make right. That is enough! None of us need any more reason to love the Father, but there is much more!

So why should we love the Father and the Son?

BECAUSE JESUS POINTS TO THE FATHER.

Jesus tells us that we must listen to God the Father, Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." His word tells us that faith comes from the Bible, the word of God, Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If you see the Father you see the Son and if you see the Son you see the Father, John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? All we have to do to see the Father and Son is to read the word; also, what belongs to the Father belongs to the Son and what belongs to the Son belongs to the Father, John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. Only Jesus can lead you to the Father, John 14: 1-6 ..."I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me".

BECAUSE HE (Jesus) IS GOD.

Jesus is God the Son, He used the same phrase to describe Himself here, that God used when Moses met God for the first time, Jesus is the great I Am! John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I Am. Jesus is called the Word, and the Word is God, John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

HE IS GOD ALMIGHTY.

God the Father and His Son are the one, the only, mighty God, who you must fear!

Deuteronomy 10:17-21 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: 18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. 19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. 21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

JESUS DIED FOR YOU BECAUSE HE DESIRED TOO!

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. Jesus gave His life to save you, Acts 2:23-24 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. Stephen, a real man, with great strength and boldness, gave his life telling us about the Lord who has saved those who would desire to follow Him,Stephen said, Acts 7:51-52 “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:”. The only hope we have to escape death is told to us in the book of Romans, Romans 8: 31-39 "What shall we say then to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, THAT IS RISEN AGAIN who is even at the right hand of God who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, 'For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'

You are a sinner, Romans 3:23, and only Jesus can save you from the terror of God’s wrath, Galatians 1:3-4 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

JESUS SPEAKS ON YOUR BEHALF.

If you obey Jesus, and what He says for you to do to be saved, He will speak on your behalf before the Father, Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh INTERCESSION for us.

GOD THROUGH HIS SON PROVIDES ABUNDANTLY.

All of your spiritual and physical needs can be provided for you by Jesus.

John 6:33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”, and

1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

HE DISCIPLINES US SO ETERNAL LIFE WILL BE OURS.

If we are not disciplined then we are not sons of our Father in heaven,

Hebrews 12:5-13 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,

Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;

For whom the Lord loves He chastens,

And scourges every son whom He receives.”

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Also, it is the difficulties of life that help us grow, James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

HE SENT THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE THE APOSTLES INTO ALL TRUTH SO THAT WE CAN READ WHAT THE NEW TESTAMENT WRITERS GAVE TO US,

The Apostles of Christ were told in the book of John that the Spirit would teach them, John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The New Testament tells us that scripture will give us, who are christians all we need from God to understand Him and learn how to live as Holy people, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. We do not need any direct influence by God or His Spirit but we only need to read the word the Holy Spirit has given us. Ephesians 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ. Also, faith is not from any source but the word, Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

HE POINTS TO THE JUDGE!

Your life can be directed by you to a degree, and the christian can have the best life anyone can have. The christian loves the life God has given, and lives for Him, first and most,

Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Every man and woman must however know that the word of God will judge him at the end of life. You must follow Jesus to live!

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

THE WAY TO LIFE EVERLASTING IS FOUND IN CHRIST.

You must be saved and therefore added to His church, the church of (belonging to) Christ. This is done by....

  1. Believing that Jesus is God’s Son who lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and that His blood will wash away your sins:

John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

2. You must repent:

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

3. You must confess Jesus and what He has done for you:

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The Ethiopian made confession just before

He was baptized into Christ, (Acts 8}.

Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

4.You must be baptized, in water, for the remission of sins:

This is the only way you can “put on Christ”. Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Baptism SAVES YOU! 1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Baptism takes sin away, Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (taking away) of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Baptism is not done directly by the Holy Spirit; you are not baptized “in the Spirit” but in water. The Ethiopian Treasurer in Acts 8:36 said, ...See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? He and Philip went down into the water where he was baptized. Also John the Baptist baptized near Aenon, ...because there was much water there....John 3:23.
